Amanda Watkins Biography
I come from a hard working, God loving, life-is-what-you-make-of-it, hard headed, hillbilly vegetarian, tight knit, music lovin' family. We are as close now as we have been from Day One. They inspire me to write songs about the working man, love and just simply getting by in this crazy life. Work hard, play hard and love hard. Straight up.
This love of music has blessed me with a pretty wonderful life thus far. Touring, meeting incredible people who share this love of singing and writing and being able to express myself through song. From singing "Jonah In The Belly Of A Whale" in church at the age of five to standing on hallowed ground at The Ryman Auditorium to a full house, I feel like the luckiest girl on earth. But I know I haven't even come close to my potential. I am here to take on so many more challenges and opportunities and have never been more ready and fired up.
Strange that playing out live mostly with male country artists has been my deal thus far. Dierks Bentley, Jamey Johnson, Dwight Yoakam and Brad Paisley are but a few whose careers I greatly admire and each for their own reason. I grew up never being able to get enough Waylon, Willie and George.
The solo artist road for me may seem new to my fans (this past year saw the disolvement of Miss Willie Brown with my band partner Kasey and me taking on separate paths) but I haven't really felt it being much different. I have always put a lot on myself and do everything I can to strive for perfection. There is a sense of freedom and at the same time a sense of responsibility that I can honestly say I love assuming in life.
This coming year has a lot in store. I will be appearing on ABC's Season Premiere of the much-anticipated show, "You're Booked!" this coming October. This follows the recent television appearances on "Hart Of Dixie" and the latest Jimmy Kimmel Live performace (I am honored to say we were the first unsigned act EVER to appear on late night major network television!). I will continue to tour, reach out to my fans and build that world up bigger than ever. The live aspect of my music career has always been and will always be my first love.
Music has taken me on a wild journey and I keep going. For the love of God. For the love of music.
