Deandre Brackensick Biography

Deandre Brackensick (born October 21, 1994) is an American singer from San Jose, California. He is one of the Top 13 finalists for the eleventh season of American Idol.

Early life

Brackensick is currently a senior at Oak Grove High School and was elected homecoming king.

He is an active participant in Oak Grove High School's Theater Arts program and is the president of the school's Polynesian Club.

His mother is African American and his father is white.

American Idol

Brackensick auditioned in San Diego, California. He originally auditioned for the tenth season of American Idol, but he was cut in the green mile round.

In the semi-finals, he performed "Reasons" by Earth, Wind & Fire. He was not one of the top five male vote getters, but was selected as one of six contestants to perform in the wild card round. In this round, he performed "Georgia on My Mind" by Hoagy Carmichael and His Orchestra and was selected as one of the three wild cards to advance to the top 13.
