Formation and It's Our Time (2005–2006)

Dan O'Connor, Alan Day and Jake Massucco all attended Doherty Memorial High School in Worcester, Massachusetts, and eventually ended up meeting through introductions from mutual friends. The band was originally named A Four Year Strong. After the departure of the original bassist Ardie Petsas, the band met Joe Weiss, eventually asking him to fill the position as the band's bassist.

Four Year Strong's earlier songs did not feature keyboards or synthesizers, but the instruments were incorporated eventually. The band cycled through many keyboardists, recruiting their current keyboardist Josh Lyford in late 2006.

The band's debut album, It's Our Time was released on January 29, 2005.
