Rosenstolz Biography

Rosenstolz (German pronunciation: [ˈʁoːzənʃtɔlts]) is a German music band from Berlin. Their music combines several styles including rock, pop and ballads. AnNa R. and Peter Plate form the duo. They had their breakthrough in 1998 with the song Herzensschöner (Heart's Desire). Other successful hits include Amo vitam (I Love Life), Es könnt ein Anfang sein (It Could be a Beginning), Liebe ist alles (Love is Everything), Willkommen (Welcome), Ich bin ich [Wir sind wir] (I am me [We are us]).

Their records Kassengift (Box-Office Poison, 2000), Herz (Heart, 2004) and Das große Leben (The Big Life, 2006) and the live DVD Das große Leben - live (The Big Life - Live) all went straight to #1 on the official German album charts as compiled by Media Control; Das große Leben also reached #1 in Austria and #10 in Switzerland.

AnNa R. (Real name: Andrea Natalie Neuenhofen, née Rosenbaum) was born on the 25th December 1969 in Berlin-Friedrichshain and grew up in East-Berlin. She still lives in Berlin-Friedrichshain. She failed the entrance examination to the Friedrichshain Music School, and before her breakthrough as a singer she worked as an assistant in a laboratory and a music seller to finance her musial training. She has been married since November 2002 to Nilo Neuenhofen.

Peter Plate was born on the 1st July 1967 in New Delhi, where his grandfather was working as a diplomat. Before he moved to Berlin in 1990 he lived in Goslar and Braunschweig, among other places. Today he lives in Berlin-Charlottenburg. Before the founding of Rosenstolz he was active as a musician, writing a musical with friends during his youth and producing several tapes, albeit without wide distribution.

Since 1990 Plate has lived with Ulf Leo Sommer, who acts as producer, composer and lyricist for Rosenstolz. Since the 1st June 2002 they have been in a registered partnership.
