Short Stack Biography
Short Stack formed in 2005 to enter Youth Rock, a competition for new bands. While that year they didn't pass the first round, the next year they came 3rd overall in the state behind folk group Benjalu and fellow emo-brat act Ian.
In 2007, to try and become closer to their fans, they started uploading episodes of "Short Stack TV" on YouTube, which follows their day to day lives. The first music video they released was for the song "Sway Sway Baby" which was filmed on Bradie's camera phone and posted onto the band's YouTube channel. The video received 5000 views on the first day, which made it the most viewed video on the site that day. After seeing "Drop Dead Gorgeous" (their second music video) on YouTube, MTV asked them to film an exclusive episode of "Short Stack TV", and other programs started to broadcast the clip, including Channel V and Video Hits.
In 2008, Short Stack were awarded Channel V's Oz Artist of the Year Award, beating out other popular acts including The Getaway Plan, The Living End, The Veronicas and Kisschasy.
Stack Is The New Black is their upcoming debut album, and is set to be released on August 14, 2009. The band have released three singles, "Shimmy a Go Go", "Princess", their newest song hit the top 10 of all time single records and "Sway Sway Baby", with "Sway Sway Baby" debuting at number 2 on the ARIA singles chart, making it the highest debut that week.
Short Stack supported many big name bands when they were starting to make a name for themselves, including Good Charlotte, Hellogoodbye, Kisschasy and McFly. More recently, in late 2008, they supported Simple Plan and The Getaway Plan, and in February 2009 they supported Metro Station and The Veronicas on the Revenge Is Sweeter Tour.
To promote the release of their debut single, "Shimmy a Go Go", Short Stack played a series of shows in Sydney, Melbourne and lastly, Brisbane during late 2008. They were supported by My Future Lies, The Ivys and Diamond Dolls at their Sydney show.
