Melanie Masson Biography

Melanie says: “I would love to win, not just for me but for anyone my age who feels their dream is over. It would be so positive to show that you can still reach your goals, achieve your dreams, be taken seriously and still be relevant no matter where you are in your life, what you've done before or how old you are.”

Melanie is a 44-year old full time mum to two children Rua, 5, and Ramsay, 3. She runs a music class for under-fives called Fairy Flutterby’s Little Rockabyes, so Melanie is known as Fairy Flutterbye. Her husband is Scottish actor, Forbes Masson. Forbes and Alan Cumming co-wrote and starred in the BBC Two series The High Life. Melanie says if she won The X Factor she’d like to buy a camper van for them to take their children around Scotland’s beautiful countryside.

When Melanie went to Bootcamp it was the first time she’d had a night away from her children so she found it quite tough but her family are backing her all the way. Melanie would love to perform with Aretha Franklin and Mick Jagger.
